Action. thoughts "Speech."
Sage felt something wet on her nose and began to wiggle her nose until she opened her eyes and saw that it was Ink's wet brown nose that had been against hers. She giggled softly then gave him one big lick on the nose. After stretching she rolled off of the hay and rubbed up against Ink happily.
"You feeling better?" she yawned and sat down on her haunches. Taking in his appearance she saw that he did look a better then he had yesterday but he did look hungry. She then looked down at herself to see that she was in deep need of a bath, she was covered in dirt and had some hay stuck to her fur. Shaking of the hay she giggled and went to drink the water that she was pretty sure ink had filled up for her.
"I need a bath, and do you think you feel like eating?" she asked in a soft voice. She then walked back to him and sat back on her haunches. She wasnt quite sure what she had dreamt about last night but she did remember that she had slept next to ink. Right next to him infact. She remembered how she felt overwhelmed and then calmed down once she opened her eyes to see ink. She loved the feeling she had last night of safe, warm, and loved. Especially loved, she hadnt felt that way in a long time and had forgotten how much she liked it.

ooc; my muse is playing up too XDD bic;
Ink laughed as he watched Sage's nose wriggle and wrinkle until she opened her eyes, and brown eyes met blue. Their eyes were locked for a moment, before he tore his eyes away and looked around the barn again. Yes, he was feeling much better, actually. It was surprising what a good night's rest could do. Stretching his legs, Ink began to walk around the perimeter of the barn, just to get his bearings and to get rid of the energy that was bubbling up inside him. Ink was feeling very upbeat now that he'd slept, and he seemed to be seeing everything in a new light. As he came to a halt by the sitting Sage, he tilted his head and looked at her. Why had she been so kind to him? Why had she looked after him so much? They didn't know each other that well, did they? Ink realised he was staring, so he averted his eyes.
"Yes!" He replied happily, wagging his long, thin tail, "Much better, actually. Thank you for looking after me yesterday, I really appreciate it." |
His eyes were completely serious as he spoke, staring at Sage gratefully. Any other dog would probably have just rolled their eyes and walked away, not interested in a throwing up dog, yet Sage had gone out of her way to help a friend. His heart swelled considerably, and he had to look away before he started to get emotional. Grow up, Ink! He thought to himself, She was only being kind.Nudging at Sage's body, he nodded. His stomach rumbled, the emptiness soon becoming unbearable. He hadn't kept any food down in about twenty-four hours, so he was desperate to eat something before he starved to death. "Yeah, let's go hunt, or something?" He suggested as he walked out of the barn into the searing summer heat. Blinking and squinting, he wished he had something to cover his eyes from the sun. Padding around the old, disused path, he wondered whether he'd actually be able to catch anything. The likelihood was low. Sage smiled happily, of course she was happy that ink felt better. In fact she felt better then happy, she was thrilled, it took everything she could not to tackle him in a huge hug. Looking around she figured the best place to find food would be in the corn stalks, she motioned to Ink to follow her as she began walking as quietly as she could in the stalks. Listening around she found mice that were too tiny to catch and to be eaten so she kept searching. She hadnt quite thought to make sure Ink was behind her but she knew he was somewhere in the stalks by now. Listening she heard some quail padding around the stalks.
It wasnt long after that she had found the quail and then pounced, landing on two quails at once she held one down and put it out of its misery then did the same for the other. She hadnt really planned on catching two but as she thought about it she figured ink could have the other one. She picked both quail up in her mouth and made her way to the barn. She wasnt sure whether she should call to ink that she had caught something or not but in confusion she made a whimpering sound that would scare the animals out of the minds but was loud enough for a close dog to hear.
Putting the quail beside the pile of hay where her and ink slept last night she looked around. She examined the water that was in a huge bucket of water that was big enough for a small dog to rinse of but not a big one. With a huge sigh she started to lay down when she noticed something, infront of the barn and beside the dirt road was a water pump. She skipped over to it and circled it; then she started to push it down but nothing worked. She then sat down on her haunches and thought, Oh! she thought and got under the watr pump handle then began pushing. Soon cold water spit out and Sage washed herself off in the fresh water. Pushing the handle back, therefor shutting the water off she hopped back to the quail and waited for Ink to come back

Ink had no luck. Every time he began going faster than a walk, his stomach cramped up and shooting pains ran around his body. It was obvious that he wasn't going to be able to hunt. However, he didn't want Sage to see him like this, so he walked around the field, the long grass covering his spotted body. He had hoped to find something that was injured or already dead so he wouldn't have to run after it, but there was nothing but dirt and dying grass. Glaring at nothing in particular, Ink turned his body around and headed back. There would be no way he was going to get anything at this rate. He he headed back to the farm, the smell of quail and blood invaded his nostrils. This meant that Sage had probably caught something. Well, she was like a skilled hunter, unlike Ink who was completely useless at absolutely everything.
He saw Sage leave the barn, and suddenly she was pressing down on a pump and water came out of it. He watched from a distance as she pressed the pump down a few times, before she headed back inside. He walked back to the barn, and squinted at the sudden darkness. His eyes had become accustomed to the bright, summer sunlight so it took another few seconds to get used to the darkness again. Ink spotted Sage sitting by a few quails, and he licked his lips. She'd caught something for him as well. His heart fluttered a little, before he padded over to her.
"Are we sharing?" He asked, clearly insinuating that he hadn't caught a single thing. It was embarrassing to say the least, but he could still claim that he was 'ill'. The smell of the delicious quail reached his nostrils again, and he quivered with anticipation. God, he was starving! He couldn't wait to sink his teeth into the stupid bird.

Sage nodded happily and nudged ink's bird over to his feet. "Eat up." she giggled and started to dig into her bird. She had been so hungry that she didnt remember that she had just taken a bath so blood got all over her muzzle and neck. Everynow and then while she was eating she'd let her eyes wander over to ink who looked thrilled to be eating; just like she was.
Sage could see by his movements, and facial expressions that he was feeling so much better. Which was a good think to hear, she remembered yesterdays events and wished ink handt been sick. She hoped that was the end of the sickness but she wasnt sure what kind of bug he had gotten whether it was a day thing or a week thing. It could have just been a day, because he was feeling better although he could have just been having a good morning. Either way, sage wanted to stay with him this time.
She didnt want to depart again at least not now, she'd just go back to the cruel world. For some reason, whenever she was around ink things got better in feeling and physically. Instead of dragging along unhappily, she felt like running around happily when ink was around. He had that affect on her was what she came to the conclusion to but she couldnt help but wonder if she had some affect on him.
Finishing up her food sage licked her lips and plopped onto the floor. Rolling over on her back she giggled softly and waited for ink to finish. She knew she'd have to eat later but for now she was as full as a tick. "Geesh, i hadnt had quail in a long time and now i remember how much i love it. Maybe even more then rabbit."
Licking her lips again, she rolled back onto her feet and sat on her haunches. Her tail wagging, she was so happy but she didnt really have a reason why. Maybe because ink was feeling better but if that wasnt the reason, then she didnt know what could be. "So what to do today? I havent checked out the whole farm... just the upstairs and this area. "
