ooc; I did a bit of a skip forward. just think like this; they had a lovely night, they woke up and eventually parted ways for a bit. this is now their second meeting a few days/weeks later bic;
The weather was still unbearable hot for the brown and white Dalmatian. He was extremely glad that he didn't have black spots, otherwise he'd get even hotter than this. His tongue lolled out of his mouth as he walked about the abandoned farm. His stomach contracted with pain ever few minutes, making him stop and heave into the thick grass. It was painful, to say the least. He hadn't had a bad day for a few days now, so when it finally came, the wave of utter, searing pain just hit him straight in the face. His stomach was aching and churning and he knew he wouldn't be able to do much today. All Ink wanted to do was keep himself to himself and not meet up with anyone. Not that he'd really seen another dog about in a while.
Blundering into a shaded farm, he clambered and stumbled up onto one of the prickly hay bales and lay down, letting out a huff as his legs practically buckled from underneath him. The pain was too much, and Ink was sure that he was going to die. Whining under his breath, he looked around through half-lidded eyes, before sliding them shut, too weak to keep them open. It was just too painful today. This was a particularly bad day, ad all Ink wanted to do was crawl in a hole and die.
His mind went to Sage, the pretty little Dalmatian he met lately. She had been wonderful, really. He wondered whether he'd be able to see her again before he died. She was lovely, and Ink hoped she was okay. Maybe one day she would find someone who would keep her safe. She needed someone to look over her, just like Ink's father did from the stars. Smiling to himself, he slid his eyes shut again and his breathing slowed down as he fell into a restless sleep. Every so often, a low whine would escape his lips and he would kick out restlessly, as if trying to fight demons within his nightmare.

Action. thoughts "Speech."
Sage awoke with a silent yawn and stared out of the barn window. She had fallen asleep in the barn loft last night without even remembering. Looking out the window she thought she saw a dog walk into the barn but wasnt positive. She had no sudden urge to go and greet the dog like she had once. She just wanted to go back to sleep where her dreams were so much better then real life.
It had been a week or more since she had even came in contact with another canine or wanted to greet another canine. The first was her favorite without a doubt. She missed Ink even though she hadnt known him very long, she remembered the day she met him very well. She remembered hopin that he would never leave but never knew why she had told him goodbye. Of course, it wasnt just her but she didnt ask him to stay, she just let him go.
For the past week she barely did a thing, it wasnt exactly because of Ink but he did play a part in her sadness. She just had never been that happy and then she let the happiness slip away. She looked like she could use food, water, and maybe to put a smile on but who would care if she looked terrible. She was alone, once again.
She could hear her stomach growling for food and her tongue begging for water so she forced herself up and began to slowly walk down the steps. She stepped off the last step then walked outside and to the old water pale. Taking tons of water in she sighed softly, licking her lips she sat on her haunches thinking about what she'd do for food. Then she remembered that she had stuffed some food in one of the stalls...in the barn.
She looked up and around then walked back into the barn only to see a dog about her size- her breed- her color spots---INK. She could hear him whimper while he slept and she saw that he didnt look well. She thought of waking him but turned around and ran outside. Searching, she found an old bowl and scooped some water out of the water pale then sat it down quietly infront of ink. She then went to retreive the food she had caught yesterday and sat it by the water bowl. Hearing her stomach growl she looked at Ink then padded off to grab more food for the both of them.

Ink had no idea how long he'd been asleep for. His stomach was still contracting and heaving when he blinked his eyes open. The heat hadn't lowered at all, and it took a few seconds for him to stumble up and be violently sick behind the hay bale. Groaning and whimpering, he resumed his place on the stack, before staring over at the water that certainly hadn't been there before. Who had left that there? Frowning, he sniffed it, and the scent that surrounded it was a familiar one. "Sage?" He croaked, but only silence accompanied him. Whining, Ink wondered where she'd gone. Bowing his muzzle, he began to lap up the water easily, refreshed as the cool water ran down his throat and sated him for a while. He was eternally grateful for Sage being there for him, even if she was gone now.
As his eyes scoured the place, Ink caught sight of some food that Sage had left as well. Ink knew he would probably throw it up again, but he took a bite out of the meat and chewed it thoughtfully. Why had she gone and left Ink like this? Would she be back? After eating half of the meat that Sage had supplied, he awkwardly got down and groaned with pain as his stomach protested. He had to swallow thickly to make sure he wouldn't vomit everything he'd just had. It would be a waste of Sage's efforts, and he didn't want to disappoint her.
His paws took him to the doorway of the barn. Squinting, he stared out at the bright surroundings, trying to see whether Sage was nearby. It would be nice for her to keep him company whilst he was having such a low day. He needed a friend right now. "Sage?" He called again, unable to project his voice because of the pain he was in. Ink lowered himself into the shade and waited.

Action. thoughts "Speech."
Sage hadnt traveled very far from the barn but she still felt bad leaving Ink like that, even though it was for a few minutes. Her worry for Ink made her loose her focus every time she almost caught something. After the third try she let out a small huff and plopped down on her haunches so she could take in the area.
She had wandered out to the old corn field which was full of delicious lunches except when you cant keep your focus. After spotting a rabbit in the bushes she krept low to the ground and tried to stay focused on the hunting. It wasnt but a minute later that the rabbit was in her mouth and Sage could eat her lunch then return to Ink.
After finishing the rabbit she made her way through the tall corn stalks. If one was looking for someone in the stalks then you'd probably see them but if you werent looking they would most likely stay hidden. On her way back to the barn Sage could hear and see Ink, but he couldnt see her. She thought about jumping out and scaring him but she could tell that he looked weak.
So she pranced up to Ink who was now sitting in the shade and licked him right on the head."Long time no see, ..... Ive missed you" Missed him was an understatement but she didnt even want to think about the lonely days now that Ink was back. Smiling, she layed down on the ground beside him.
Taking in his appearance she became worried, before the food and water she gave him Ink looked extremely exhausted but now she could tell that that too was an understatement. He was skinny, his legs looked like they were forcing themselves to even stand, and his face... his face had lost that wonderful, happy smile to it. The smile she loved. One thing that hadnt change was his amber eyes, they still glowed and made her heart flutter.
She wondered if they would depart from each other was the day was over but she hated to think about it. She had been pretty miserable without him and that was when she had met him once. She wondered what would become of him once he left again, assuming that fate wasnt going to give her another chance (to see him) after this one. She hoped that he'd find a girl that loved him with all her heart and soul. She couldnt exactly picture Ink with someone but when she did she felt a sudden pain. It felt like some one had punched her in the gut even though they hadnt. Trying to get off of her mental subject she brought her attention back to Ink. She gave him a small smile and licked his shoulder.
I thought I'd never see you again.

Ink hadn't heard Sage approaching. It was the lick to the head and her quiet, soft voice that jolted his head up and realised that he was no longer alone. Wagging his tail weakly, he licked her back, but it was too painful to move properly so it was only half hearted. What was Sage still doing here? It was obvious he was sick, yet here she was. Ink knew it wasn't contagious, but what about Sage? Surely she was putting herself at risk knowingly, but didn't care? His heart swelled and Ink tried to smile, but it came out into a grimace. Resting his head on the ground pathetically, Ink whined and stared at his paw as his eyes were too tired to look up at Sage. God, he must look completely stupid. He must look weak and terrible and he felt utterly idiotic. Why was Sage loitering around here? It wasn't right...
"Missed you too." He croaked out, trying to sound strong but completely failing. Wow, he must sound as though he was dying to Sage. Well, he was dying, but Ink knew it wouldn't be today. No matter how much pain he was in, he was adamant that he wouldn't go today. Not in front of Sage, please. If Ink wanted to die, he wanted to do it when there was no one there. He had experienced trauma from seeing his father die, so he didn't want to inflict that on someone else. Sighing heavily, he finally gained enough strength to lift his head again, just as Sage began to lick his shoulder.
Life is short and you are pretty. There's no way I could not see you again." |
Ink said tiredly with a small smile and he licked her cheek, before resting against her. She was warm and comfy. Despite the heat outside, he still craved the warmth and comfort of someone. Ink was surprised that Sage hadn't actually asked what was wrong with him, and he was very grateful for that. Ink would have to come up with some lie about a stomach bug, when really it was a cancerous tumour that was slowly but surely killing him. He whined under his breath. Action. thoughts "Speech."
Sage watched Ink as he struggled even as he lifted his head. She nudged his body slightly and whined, she wasnt sure if she should ask what was wrong but she most definately didnt like seeing her friend like this. She remembered just a week or two ago Ink was climbing a tree and if he tried to climb a tree now she knew he'd fall on the first branch.
Her brave Ink was crumbling but she didnt care whether he was the weakest dog alive or the strongest, she just cared about him. She just wanted to see him smile without pain, but how could she help him if she didnt know what was wrong with him.
"Missed you too" Ink replied. When he spoke even his voice sounded bad, but she still saw him as her brave Ink. She still saw that beautiful, brave brute she'd met at the park. The one who decided to keep part of her heart without even knowing.
Life is short and you are pretty. There's no way I could not see you again."
Ha! she thought. She looked down at herself and gave a small grin. She hadnt taken a bath in days, dirt was all over her, and she probably still had a little blood on her chin from when she killed that rabbit. She was so far away from pretty it wasnt funny but here he was, calling her something she wasnt. "Your a bad liar" she chuckled softly and rolled over on her back so she was looking up at him. "I dont know if youve noticed but im a filthy mess and you are calling me pretty. " She giggled and let her nose touch is weak paws, trying to be as careful as she could without making it obvious. A few silent moments passed and then Sage softly licked his leg, looking up at him with her crystal blue eyes."Ink? You know I dont care whether you covered in dirt or squeaky clean but please tell me if I should be worried or not. You look weak....Dont tell me whats wrong if you'd rather not but I need to know that you're ok ."

Ink buried his face into the ground, clearly embarrassed that Sage had to see him like this. This was a very different Ink than the one that had been jumping up trees effortlessly a week ago. Now he was a motionless wreck that could barely even speak. Squeezing his eyes shut, Ink barely caught what Sage said next as he was too busy moaning from the pain. How could he cope with this much longer? It was clear that he didn't have long left, yet now he barely even wanted to leave. He wanted to get to know Sage more, see what she was like, climb up trees with her, joke with her, hunt with her, laugh with her, do absolutely everything with her. Yet he couldn't. And it angered and saddened him that he would die and she would move on easily.
"'m not lying." He forced out, hating how Sage was so self conscious of how she looked. She was beautiful, and that was all she needed to hear. Besides, if she though that Ink looked nice, then she must look nice as well. They were practically identical, apart from where their dots were placed. Staring at Sage through half lidded eyes, he smiled. "I don't care. You still look lovely today." |
Perhaps it was the pain he was going through, but confidence rushed through Ink's veins, as though he didn't care that he was completely embarrassing himself. As his leg was licked, Ink's eyes slowly slid shut, and he had to properly focus on the words that Sage was saying. She was worried. She wanted to know what was wrong with him. As much as Ink wanted to say the truth, he just knew he couldn't. "I'm fine. It must be just a bug I picked up." He lied easily, hoping Sage would buy it. He didn't want to worry or scare her. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Action. thoughts "Speech."
Something in his eyes made her feel like she was dreaming. When she looked in them she felt like she was falling, at first she felt scared --scared of the fall- and almost looked away but before she could she pictured herself falling gently with Ink right beside her. Laughing with happiness, like he was having the time of his life. It wasnt until he spoke that she realized she had been staring in a wierd way. Thankfully, it seemed as he hadnt noticed her staring .
She blushed when Ink said he wasnt lying about her being beautiful and then it sunk in. She felt butterflies in her stomach as she layed close to him, their bodies touching, the heat from his body soothing her. Within seconds she was blushing again and a huge grin swept across her face. She turned away trying to hide her huge grin but looked back at Ink when she was ok.
Once Sage heard him say he was fine she felt better but something --besides the fact that he was sick with a bug-- tugged at her. She wanted to believe that he was ok but with the way he looked she couldnt see any sign of being ok. Although she felt unsure she didnt want to ask him again and act like she didnt trust him so she kept quiet. Maybe it was just the fact that he had gotten a bug that tugged at her. She wondered how long he'd had it but didnt ask because she didnt want to know, not really. If he had been sick even if it was just a day she'd automatically be mad at herself.
If she had told him that she didnt really want to part -from each other- the last time they met she would have been able to comfort him while he sat there, weak with a bug.
"Well.. thats - er - I was going to say good but being sick with a bug isnt quite good is it?" She laughed softly at herself then looked up at him. Still laying on her back while her head layed next to his paws."Ink? I gotta tell you that Ive been completely... miserable while you were gone. The only other dog i met was no where near as fun as you, or ... as nice. "
She flinched slightly when she mentioned meeting another dog. She wished her encounter with that brute never happened but she couldnt change the past. She thought that the world was different from her pack's world and had more hope for a kind world when she met ink but when she met that other dog -- she didnt want to say his name-- she realized that there were other dogs out there just like her pack.

Ink snorted. At least she looked more relaxed now that she thought that all he had was a mere stomach bug. He didn't want to worry her, or get her upset. There was no reason to tell her that he'd die soon. She'd probably get far too upset for her own good, and Ink didn't want to see her like that. It'd make him upset as well. He was frightened enough about dying. When he slept, he dreamt of death wrapping around his body and whispering frightening things in his ears. He'd whimper and cry until he'd wake up, his fur curled and drenched in sweat and shaking like a leaf. He hoped Sage wouldn't see him like that. It'd probably scare her half to death.
When Sage mentioned another dog that she'd come across, Ink weakly raised his head and licked the hollow of her neck, before frowning. What did she mean he hadn't been nice? What had he done to her? His eyes scoured over her body, but it didn't look like she was hurt physically. Whimpering softly, he cuddled up into her fur, "Missed you too," He admitted sadly, even if it hadn't actually been that long, "What did this dog do?" |
His voice changed dramatically from sad to angry. He didn't like any dog that hurt another - physically or mentally - and would probably look and act a lot more angry if he was better. Instead he just bristled on the ground and glared sightlessly into the distance. Ink was a kind dog at heart and hated others that just weren't as kind. He was lucky, at least, that he and Sage were kind to each other and just seemed to click. Unlike the dog that Sage had mentioned. He had certainly noticed the flinch that Sage did when she mentioned him, and his fur stood on end as he tried not to raise his voice too much. He was still in pain, after all. Action. thoughts "Speech."
Sage remembered the day she met that mean brute quite well, even if she didnt want to remember it. It hadnt been but a day or two after she and ink seperated from each other. She had been walking around the forest when she smelt food. She followed the scent only to come upon another dog. She kindly smiled and said hello but when he turned around she saw blood on his face. She didnt have a problem with him eating but it was the fact that his eyes looked murderous. It had scared her. She remembered how he circled her with those red eyes lingering on her.
She closed her eyes tight trying to stop reliving that awful moment but she couldnt get it out of her mind. The way he looked t her like she was prey just made her become limb and unable to think. She remembered wondering if there were dogs out there just like the brute or if there were others out there that were worse. Of course there were others out there that were worse but Sage didnt know that so many had this behavior upon them so she had a right to be scared as he continued to circle her.
She wasnt sure why he did that because it had begun to get very creepy. It wasnt until he spoke that she noticed he was now infront of her. He spoke with a snarl in his voice " why arent you a pretty girl."............
She shut her eyes tightly once again and shook her head slightly. After one tiny whimper she opened her eyes and looked right at Ink. He now looked angry, like he was mad at her but she knew he was mad at the other dog. During her flash back she hadnt really been paying much attention to what Ink had said or asked but with the look on his face it was obvious. He was wondering what the other dog had done.
"I... He.. well. Im ok mainly he just scared the soul right out of me but he did try something. Nothing happened though, he did bite be on the back on the leg but its pretty much healed. I fled. " she left out the whole story because she knew that it would make Ink angrier if she gave full details about how much thsi brute had really scared her but she was telling the truth. He tryed something, sage tried to flee but before she did the brute snapped at her back leg.
OOC: Ok, im seriously in love with this couple haha. dipped in brown dots <3. Thanks again for letting me add in this story it actually gave me like a ton of muse. =P

ooc; they're pretty darn cute together <333 bic;
Ink stared at her, mouth hanging open. Even when he was in pain, he was always worrying about someone or something else. He was so selfless it was unreal. Licking the side of Sage's face tender, he pressed his body against her and sighed. There was no way Ink could've stopped the dog. He had probably been nowhere near where she had encountered the dog in the first place, but he was still angry with himself for leaving her. Of course, it had only been a week, and anything could happen in a week, but there was no real reason Ink wanted to leave, other than the fact that Sage might see him on a bad day. Well, this was a bad day, and it was terrible. He really should've thought this through a little more, and found a decent place to hide where Sage couldn't have found him. She didn't need to see him throwing up all over the place.
His eyes went to Sage's hind legs, but as she said, there was nothing there. Barely even a scratch left from the bite mark that the dog had given her. Whining lowly, he cuddled up beside her. "You can't go approaching just any old dog. Y'need to be careful, Sage." He murmured. He knew it wasn't Sage's fault, but maybe if she stayed away from frightening looking dogs she may not have to encounter that experience again.
Suddenly feeling his stomach churn, Ink stood up hastily, knowing what was about to happen. He stagged over to the corner of the barn and promptly threw up, heaving up the contents of his stomach. The food that Sage had delivered him was now a pile of mess on the ground and no longer in his stomach. Groaning and slightly whimpering, he staggered back over to some hay and collapsed on it, in far too much pain to speak anymore.

Sage calmed down once she looked into Ink's amber eyes and felt a feeling of love. She wasnt quite sure if this love was just brotherly and sisterly love or if it was something more but no matter what kind of love she was feeling she didnt want it to fade away. She felt better as ink pressed his body against her in a comforting way. She knew that the mean brute was far gone and ink was here with her. She liked it that way.
When she heard him tell her that she should be more careful she just nodded. He was right, she did need to be more careful. She had told herself the same thing after her encounter with the brute but she also knew it wasnt her falult. She knew she should be more careful and didnt want to linger on he brute any longer.
She watched as Ink forced his body up quickly and ran only to hear him throwing up. She looked away then returned her gaze back to him once he was done. She didnt like seeing Ink hurt and in pain. She didnt like it one bit but she wanted to be there for him no matter what. She knew if she left that she'd just be miserable again. She didnt really know what had happened between her and ink but she knew that she no longer considered him a dog she had met at the park. She considered him to be her closet friend in the world.
She tryed denying it while she was seperated from him but couldnt. It had nothing to do about how gorgeous he was but the fact that he an dher had jut instantly clicked. Like fate knew they would be together, like fate had planned everything. Sage had never felt this way about someone and she wasnt just going to let it go because of a bad time.
She saw him resting on a pile of old hay and walked over to him. She didnt care if he smelt bad or if he looked bad, to her he was gorgeous inside and out. She thought about how to make him comfortable but figured he'd be in pain if he moved so she went and got the bowl of water she had brought him earlier, filled it up again and sat it by him. She didnt offer food because she thought he might throw it up again but she wanted him to get the taste out of his mouth.
"Dont worry about me, you need to rest ok? Drink some water and rest, please."
ooc: haha like fate planned it : i found that kinda funneh.

He must've looked a total state. It was unbelievable how sick he was getting. It wasn't the worst day that Ink had lived through, but it was pretty bad. Spitting out the horrible taste in his mouth, he closed his eyes for a fraction, before Sage was back with a bowl of water, especially for him. Lifting his head wearily he sniffed the water, before letting his tongue exit his mouth and lap up the cool liquid that Sage had gotten for him. It was a relief to get that bitter taste out of his mouth, but it did nothing for his empty stomach. Everything that he did eat would be thrown up again, but he was just so hungry. There was no use catching any prey yet, though. He needed to wait for his stomach to settle.
"Thank you," He croaked as he finished off the water and rested his head on his paws. Ink had already done a lot of resting, but he was still completely exhausted. His weak heart thumped slowly in his chest as he slid his eyes shut. How long would it be before he dropped dead? Would he be able to say goodbye to Sage before it happened? He whimpered quietly and rolled onto his side so that his stomach wasn't being crushed as much.
"Lie with me?" |
He asked softly, keeping his eyes closed as he rested his head on the soft hay. Ink longed to feel the warmth of Sage's body against his. God, he was just so tired that he had no idea what he was saying. He'd probably be embarrassed when he'll next wake up, for asking Sage to lie with him, however right now he didn't care. He was tired and wanted the comfort from his friend. It wouldn't be much longer before Ink knew he'd finally snuff it, and he wanted to be close to Sage for now. Action. thoughts "Speech."
Sage watched as Ink weakly drank the water she had brought him and was sure she had seen an ounce of relief of his face which made her feel slightly better. She didnt know what to do, there were dogs out in the world that knew how to heal illnesses but she was not one of them. Normally a pup would learn stuff like that from her mother or father but the only thing she had learned from her mother was how to get a guys attention -- flaunt it. Of course sage had refused to flaunt it and flaunting it wouldnt help now any way. It'd probably just be weird and rude.
Once again she had floated off into a mental conversation and was woken by Ink's frail voice. "Lie with me?" she gave a small smile and nodded even though Ink couldnt see her head gesture. She determined where she should lay and decided to by Inks back so she wouldnt crush his stomach. Delicately she made herself comfortable next to inks back. Laying her head softly next to his neck and then licking it gently.
She closed her eyes as well and began to think about the circumstances. She wasnt going to leave Ink... unless he asked her too and she wasnt going to tell him how she felt. About him. She would seem rude and ignorant if she decided to tell him how she felt while he was sick. She didnt want to appear rude to her...friend. Her Ink. Of course he wasnt hers but she loved him like he was. Yet again she didnt know how he felt and didnt know if they were meant to be just friends or more but she did know that now was not the time to straighten things out.
Sage was overcome with emotions lately, happiness when she met ink, sadness when he left, excited when she found him again, but then quite worried when she saw his health status. Love and compassion mixed in all of those emotions made the perfect emotion stew but she didnt know how to calm all of those emotions. Why couldnt she just be there for ink without having to be such a worry wart and why couldnt she love him without all the confusion? She was doing it again. She was thinking of herself, not Ink but herself. She was rude and selfish that was the problem. rude and selfish.
Trying to escape the emotions that filled her head she opened her eyes and saw that she was still with Ink. It had only been a few minutes but it had seemed like hours that she was stuck in her mind and she found it relieving to open her eyes only to see Ink. Her body pressed ever so lightly against his, their heat branching off onto each other. It was comforting and to know that Ink was right there beside her made her feel so much better. So much better. With her nose pressed against the back of his neck she closed her eyes once again and instead of being overwhelmed she found herself in a wonderous dream.
notes:I just have so much muse when it comes to ink and sage haha. Of course sage is always stuck in his eyes <3 <3 <3 <3

Ink smiled faintly as Sage went and lay down with him. It was warm and comforting and made him feel much safer. He knew he was just being pathetic and weak, but he couldn't help it. Sage was here for him and that was all that mattered. The feel of fur against fur and skin against skin made Ink's eyelids droop considerably. The soft sound of Sage breathing lulled him to sleep. He didn't even spare a thought that perhaps Sage wouldn't want to lie next to him for the rest of the day. Ink slept peacefully this time. It was as if Sage's presence had calmed him down. There were no nightmares of death or fears of dying. Instead he just smiled in his sleep. The dreams were thoughtless and had very little meaning to them. Situations strung together by his brain, and by the time he woke up everything had been forgotten. All he could feel was happiness.
It was starting to get dark once Ink woke. He needed that nap very much. Stretching his legs whilst still lying down, he blinked open his eyes and stared around the barn that he'd fallen asleep in. The warmth against his back was still there, meaning that Sage hadn't moved a muscle. He turned around the face her, and tilted his head when he saw that she was still asleep. He didn't want to disturb her so Ink stood up and padded around. The sickness had passed, and now he just felt a bit groggy with a small headache. Nothing too bad. He lapped up some of the water from the bowl before filling it up again. It was the least he could do for Sage. Ink knew he was in no state to go hunting for her, but at least he'd be there when she woke up.
Lying down in front of her, Ink pressed the tip of his brown, wet nose to the tip of her matching brown nose, waiting for her to wake up. It wouldn't be long, he was sure.
